  We visited for Sunday lunch today and we're extremely disappointed. I've been here a fair few times in the past and can't understand why it's suddenly become so awful. I ordered a Sunday lunch with roast pork. It consisted of 3 thin (almost wafer thin) slices or pork, about 1 1/2 inches diameter, less than 2 parsnips (2 off cuts that looked half eaten), 3 roast potatoes (1 was cremated and unedable), a frozen Yorkshire which was flatter than a pancake and some cabbage. Oh I nearly forgot the one whole carrot that they could not be bothered to cut so just cooked it whole (only the 1 carrot of course) and lobbed it on the plate. As for pork crackling - that's obviously far too much effort as there was none to be seen.
  
  I'm honestly not one to complain but I had to say something to our waitress (who I have to say was extremely pleasant and is by no means a reflection of this rant). After explaining my issue, she commented that the portion of pork was the usual offering but offered to get me some additional parsnips and pork. A small plate arrived with 4 parsnips and 1 slither of pork smaller than the original pieces.....I'd imagine the chef was laughing at this point!
  
  If you think I'm joking about how bad the food was, I'll post some pics on here or TripAdvisor.
  
  I advise anyone who is hungry and in need of decent food to stay well away from The Angel, it's totally lost its way and will never see my families custom ever again.
  
  If you've not got enough to fill up a plate then let your customers know rather than half filling a plate with inadequate, poorly cooked food!

  Welcoming barman when we visited on a Sunday just for a drink with a decent selection of ales and lagers. Nice and cosy with a good family friendly atmosphere too.
  We didn't try the food but it looked like pub chain standard fayre as it went past where we were sitting.
  Nice pub.

  This is my local, so I want to love it. They have made it very difficult to do that in the past. I was there last weekend and for the first time empty glasses were collected from the table. The food is pretty standard pub grub. It is owned by a large chain and it feels like it. It will never be a great pub - the choice of beers is too limited, but it has a big beer garden and it is family friendly. It's OK.

  Friendly staff that were great with the kids. Food was lovely. All round a lovely place to eat out.
